In a tribe or campaign
Resources for your tribe, group or campaign to think differently about making a difference.

Does this sound like you:
If you are part of a tribe or campaign and would like to be stronger, you are not alone. We have assembled a range of resources that might help you, and your tribe, engage and apply some of the ideas from the book.
Some of these tools are designed so they can be used by any of us – to help us reflect and think about how our tribe works.
Some of the materials demonstrate tools or skills outlined in the book, like power analysis or relational meetings.
And, some of the materials are designed so they can be used with your tribe – from questions to help you reflect on your purpose and boundaries, to materials that can help introduce the book’s ideas to your tribe, such as a video that walks through the elements of how to plan an action.
In the resources below you’ll find…
Podcasts
We have podcasts featuring tribes in action. We have stories of people setting up a tribe (like Tina Rothery with Nana’s against Fracking, Kim Loo with Doctors for the Environment, Jean Hinchliffe with Student Strike for Climate, and two stories about communities that formed tribes during the 2019 Australian Bushfires).
“How to win” looks at coalition building. Others talk about key concepts, like power (Antoinette Lattoff). Some shed more light on stories in the book, including Hong Kong and GetUp), and in “Scaling Change” Amanda reflects on small and big, and relational meetings.
Tools
We have guides, videos and writing to help tribes apply the practical tools for building power in the book such as power analysis, political autobiography, coalition building and relational meetings.
We are also working on new materials to support tribes. If you have suggestions or ideas about what might be useful, get in touch via the contact us page.
Stories
The stories of Issara Saeyim (Chapter 3), John Robertson (Chapter 4) and Samuel Chu (Chapter 5) show how the paradoxes of “us and others” and “power with and power over” play out in practice in our tribes or campaigns. We have also included stories of unusual tribes, from book clubs to parent groups.
Next Steps
We will continue to update and expand these materials. Amanda is in the process of developing online and face-to-face training materials, and has begun working with tribes, groups and NGOs to translate these materials to their circumstances. Regular ChangeMakers Podcasts are also a store of reflections and strategies used by others. Have a look at upcoming opportunities events on the community page, and sign up to the email list to keep in touch.
